Himalayan Three Peaks Expedition

Lobuche East, Pokalde and Island Peak

The Himalayan Three Peaks Expedition is a very demanding but achievable expedition, climbing three major peaks in the Everest Region, Lobuche East, 6119m, Pokalde, 5806m, and Island Peak (Imja Tse), 6189m. It provides an opportunity for first time climbers to climb in the shadow of the world's highest mountains. Officially the three mountains are classified as “Trekking Peaks” however they are still regarded as being difficult climbs. You should be ready for an adventure!

Annapurna Foothills Treks organizes this expedition climbing in the Khumbu / Everest Region of Nepal, a great trekking circuit in the Himalayans.

Himalayan Three Peaks Expedition

The expedition begins with a short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, 2850m, where the trail to our destination begins. You will trek through Sherpa villages, juniper forests, yak pastures and terraced fields and pass by Buddhist Monasteries. Nights will be spent in tea houses or tent style camping.

Namche Bazaar, known as the Sherpa capital, is the last large village before going into more remote mountain villages. The trail leads to Thame and up to the Renjo pass, then down to the beautiful Gokyo Lake, and back up to Cho-La pass. This trail which also leads to Everest Base Camp splits off; we take the trail leading to Lobuche East Base Camp for our first ascent, of Lobuche East, 6119m.

By now your group will be fairly acclimatized, but we will take two days to rest and conduct basic mountaineering skills for participants with little experience climbing on snow, ice and rock and traversing glaciers. Meanwhile our staff begins to establish a high camp on the mountain. On the third day you will be ready to summit Lobuche East. After the early morning summit of Lobuche East, you will return to Lobuche Village.

The next destination is Pokalde Base Camp, where the team will prepare for the next summit, Pokalde, 5806m. It is a relatively straightforward climb to the Pokalde summit. Since you have mountaineering skills and are well acclimatized, this will be a relatively easy peak.

You will be ready for a well deserved rest day in Island Peak Base Camp before you summit your last peak of the expedition, Island Peak.

summit Island Mera

Each summit will give you a different perspective of Nepal’s numerous eight thousand meter giants.

Note I: If you are traveling on a budget, and do not require five-star accommodation, we can provide you clean and comfortable hotels at more reasonable rates, which will reduce the total cost of the package.

Note II: Our previous experience shows that three nights and three days program is sufficient to climb Island Peak but Pokalde and Island Peak two Nights. In case you would like to stay more than two nights and three days in any Base Camp, you have to pay USD 110 Per Person / Per day, and you will get all the same services as the scheduled days.

Note III: Annapurna Foothills Treks provides all the equipment you will need to climb Island Peak and Lobuche Peak and Pokalde. We have a store in Chukung which supplies equipment from Camp and Black Diamond Company, which are high quality mountaineering suppliers. The only thing you need to bring is your own plastic boots to be sure you have a comfortable pair in the proper size. You may wish to hire some in Kathmandu.

Note IV: The following climbing equipment is available in Chukung.
