Mt. Kangaru, which is also known as Kusum Kangaru, is a triple summated mountain in the Khumbu region. It also acts as the border between Dhudhkoshi in south and Hinku valley to the north. In Tibetan language, Kusum Kangaru means three snow-white Gods. The peak is technically challenging from all possible routes.

Those who have enough alpine mountaineering experience are specifically advised to go for this trek. This peak possesses a great challenge to the mountaineers. Among the trekking peak in Nepal, this peak is said to be one of the most difficult climbing peak.

Kusum Kanguru Peak Climbing

Kusum Kanguru South-East Ridge:

This peak is climbed through the South-East face; from the Hinku valley side. From Lukla, it takes about five hours to reach the base camp. The ascent route is through the South East face. You need to climb three high camps to complete the peak climbing.

Kusum Kanguru North Ridge:

The North Ridge is approached from Monjo on the trail to Namche Bazaar. From base camp ascend, steep grass and screed and finally a ramp leading to the ridge proper.

Day 03: Flight to Lukla (2840m) and trek to Chutanga (3100m)

Day 04: Acclimatization day at Chutanga

Day 05: Trek - Tuli Kharka (4400m) via 4600m passes

Day 06: Trek - Tashing Ongma (3600m)

Day 07: Trek - Tangnag (4350m)

Day 08: Acclimatization day at Tangnag

Day 09: Trek - Base Camp (4360m)

Day 10: Climb preparation
